WASHINGTON (April 5) – Adding Washington experience to his staff, Chairman Billy Tauzin (R-LA) has named the following professionals to focus on oversight, policy and administrative issues for the House Energy and Commerce Committee:

            J. Keith Ausbrook will serve as counsel to Rep. James C. Greenwood (R-PA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.  An attorney with significant investigative experience, Ausbrook comes to the Subcommittee from the Office of the Independent Counsel, where he most recently served as deputy independent counsel.  He has also worked for the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee’s National Economic Growth, Natural Resources, and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee, serving as chief counsel and acting staff director.  Ausbrook was a practicing attorney with the law firm Collier, Shannon, Rill and Scott.  He holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Sean B. Cunningham will serve as an energy counsel to the Committee.  He most recently represented clients on energy issues as an associate in the law firm of Balch and Bingham.  Cunningham has extensive Capitol Hill experience, including his role as counsel to the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee’s National Economic Growth, Natural Resources, and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee and a stint with Representative Dick Armey.  He received a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, a masters in philosophy from Catholic University and a B.A. in history from the University of Virginia.

Raymond V. Shepherd III has been tapped as an oversight counsel to the Committee.  Shepherd – a legislative director to then Rep. Fred Heineman, and communications director to former Rep. Alex McMillan – comes back to the Hill from the law firm of Janis, Schuelke and Wechsler.  He has also served as an associate attorney at Wiley, Rein and Fielding and a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia.  Shepherd holds a J.D. from the George Washington Law School and a B.A. in philosophy from Yale College.

Finally, Linda Lee Walker has been named the Committee’s administrative and human resources director. Walker comes to the Committee from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she was director of services and administration in the international division.  Prior to her years of service with the Chamber, she held managerial positions with a number of organizations throughout the world. Walker was graduated from the State University of New York at Albany.
