The Subcommittee on Health met in an open markup session to consider H.R. 3792 the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009, on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 represents a piece of bipartisan legislation to extend the Ryan White program for four years, amending the law to extend many of the provisions in their current form and making several changes.The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provides federal funding to cities, states, and public and nonprofit entities to assist in core medical and support services for people living with HIV or AIDS. The Ryan White program serves more than a half a million low-income people with HIV/AIDS in the United States; 33% of those served are uninsured and an additional 56% are underinsured.
